SQL Pass Summit 2012–Randy Knight

Randy Knight, President and Principal Consultant at SQL Solutions Group and a Microsoft Certified Master, presented at the 2012 PASS SQL Summit in Seattle on Nov. 6.

His topic was “Understanding Transaction Isolation Levels

Whether you are a developer who needs to understand how isolation works and why NOLOCK is usually not an appropriate hint or a seasoned DBA who needs to understand the less commonly used isolation methods, this session is for you. We will look at each isolation level and how it impacts the engine, then examine appropriate (and inappropriate) use cases for each.
